Еlectric Еnergy Мarket
According to the new requirements in the Directives of EU, the liberalization of the energy market in Bulgaria started in 2004. The first fundamental change in the Energy Law was the introducing of a new market model of “bilateral contracts with balancing market”, which replaced the former market model of “single buyer”. After the amendments in the Energy Law, which took effect as from 08.09.2006 the last stage form the restructuring of NEK EAD was completed and as a result the exclusive monopoly of the import and export of electric energy was removed. Starting from 04.01.2007 the activities related to the control of the Electricity system were legally and organizationally separated from the other activities of NEK EAD (trade and generation) and were transferred to the new established company Electricity System Operator EAD (ESO EAD).
